TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF MEMBERSHIP

  1. Membership is open to everyone interested in the study of Genealogy and Family History who share the aims and objectives of the society.
  2. Membership subscriptions are paid annually. The membership year runs from April to March. The renewals notice is included in the March Ancestor Journal.
  3. For those joining on or after 1st January membership will run through to the end of March the following year
  4. You may join at anytime, but your membership will be due for renewal the following April (subject to 3. above)..
  5. You accept the obligation contained in clause 7 of the Memorandum of the Company to contribute a sum (not exceeding £10) to the company's assets in the event of the company being wound up and there are insufficient assets to meet its liabilities.
  6. (a) As a UK member of the Society (or an Overseas member who has elected to receive a Norfolk Ancestor by post) you will receive the Norfolk Ancestor, the Society’s journal four times a year: June, September, December and March. New members who join after June will not automatically be sent any Norfolk Ancestors they have missed. These are available to view online within the Members area. If, however, you prefer a paper copy, please contact the membership secretary. (b) As an Overseas E-Ancestor member you will have access to view the Norfolk Ancestor online within the Members area.       
  7. As a member you will be given access to the Norfolk Online Record Search (NORS) and the members’ area of the Society’s website.   
  8. Joint membership is available but only one Ancestor Journal will be posted. Only one address will be held on our membership file and only one email access to NORS will be registered.
  9. NORS access will not be given to institutions.
  10. Membership rates are subject to review from time to time.
  11. The name, address and email information you supply is retained by us on computer and will be used as your mailing address. We do not forward members contact details to third parties.
  12. Members name and number will be published in the journal and in the Members Interests area to indicate Members Interests preference.
  13. Occasionally the Society may wish to contact you by email but you do have the option of opting out.
