NFHS: Rules of the Society
In the rules following the word "Charity" refers to the Norfolk Family History Society.
- The name and objects of the Charity shall be as stated in the Memorandum and Articles of Association.
- Any person, Society or Institute may apply for membership and shall, at the absolute discretion of the Trustees, be so registered as a member on payment of the annual subscription from time to time in force. The Trustees may in their absolute discretion, suspend membership if any member fails to comply with the Rules of the Charity from time to time.
- Every admitted member shall be entitled to receive a copy of any publication that the Trustees decide shall be covered by the subscription.
- Trustees may appoint as honorary life members persons who have rendered distinguished services in the affairs of the Charity. The number of honorary life members so appointed shall not exceed six.
- The financial year of the Society shall end on the 31st March.
- The annual subscription payable by each member shall be decided upon by the Trustees and announced at each Annual General Meeting of the Charity. Subscriptions shall be payable on 1st April in each year.
- The Charity may by resolution of the Trustees recognise branches which shall operate as regional centres for activities of the Charity. The Trustees may from time to time decide to increase or decrease the number of branches operated by the Charity.
- The Trustees shall elect from within their number one or more Trustees to have responsibilty for branches operated by the Charity and any Trustee so elected shall be known as a Branch Trustee.
- Branch Trustees shall be responsible for the day to day management and control of the branch or branches in respect of which each has been elected under the terms of powers delegated to Branch Trustees by the Trustees from time to time. Branch Trustees shall, upon the request of the Trustees, provide a full report of all current and proposed branch activities from time to time.
