to Kirby Hall Library

Kirby Hall Library is located at 70 St. Giles Street, Norwich, Norfolk, NR2 1LS.  This map of Norwich shows the location of St. Giles just above the CITY HALL.

How to get there

The Library is on St Giles Street at its junction with Cleveland Road, Upper St Giles and Bethel Street, directly opposite St Giles church. It is approximately 250m to the west of the City Hall and Market Place, which are both in the centre of Norwich.

By train

The railway station is in Thorpe Road, Norwich, just past the river bridge leading to Prince of Wales Road. From there you have the following options:

By car

There are a number of city centre car parks but all are expensive. The nearest to Kirby Hall is the multi-storey on St. Giles Street. If you are travelling by car from outside the city, it would probably be better to use one of the Park & Ride Schemes on the outskirts of Norwich. For details of these see www.norfolk.gov.uk/consumption/

By bus

Buses stop either at the Bus Station on Surrey Street or Castle Meadow. From the Bus Station proceed down Surrey Street until you reach the junction with St Stephen's Street. Turn right, cross the road by Marks and Spencer, then turn left into Rampant Horse Street. Turn right by Debenhams and proceed down the pedestrian area to Gentleman's Walk and the Market Place. Now follow instructions in the By Foot section.

By foot

From Castle Meadow/Davy place steps, proceed to the Market Place. Here, stand with your back to the Castle and look up at the clock tower on the City Hall building. You now have two choices:
Look slightly to the right and you will see the flint faced medieval Guildhall. Proceed up the hill between the Guildhall and Tesco. City Hall is on your left. You are now in St Giles Street. Proceed up the street to St Giles Church. Kirby Hall is directly opposite. Alternatively, to the left of City Hall is the new glass and steel Forum, housing the Tourist Information Centre where maps of the city are obtainable and accommodation details can be obtained. Pass up Bethel Street with the Forum to the left and City Hall to the right. Continue along this street until you see St Giles church. Kirby Hall is directly opposite.

Entrance

Kirby Hall The front door can be reached by climbing a few steps or using the sloping path (which includes a handrail) situated to the left of the entrance door of Kirby Hall. Please ring the door bell to gain admittance.

There is an area to the side of the building where bicycles may be left. Parking for up to 5 cars is available. Vehicles are left at the 'owners risk'.
