The Norfolk Ancestor - Notes and Queries

If you are tracing your Norfolk lineage or researching your family tree, at some point you may find you reach a 'brick-wall' or there is a conundrum you can not answer. The Norfolk Ancestor journal is available for simple queries and allows you to pose your question to fellow genealogists.

Although called NOTES & QUERIES, offers of help and items of information and general interest are also eligible for inclusion in the Norfolk Ancestor journal. Please limit your text to 200 words maximum and put surnames in CAPITALS. It is only really worth advertising people with known Norfolk connections. The general rule is one person/family per advert. The Society reserves the right to edit entries if necessary and to refuse submissions.

This service is free for members of the Society - please remember to quote your membership number - and at a charge of £ 6.00 sterling per entry to non-members. Cheques should be made payable to the 'The Norfolk Family History Society' and must be in Pounds sterling.

Send queries (typed) to:

Please send a stamped self-addressed envelope if you require acknowledgement from the Society and ensure your address / email appears in full to enable members to respond. Queries are printed in the order in which they are received, and there may be a backlog.

Please also note that names of persons, towns, districts, etc. should be printed in CAPITAL LETTERS. Alternatives should use / (BROWN/BROWNE) and not hyphens as this may lead to confusion when hyphenated surnames are involved and, finally, all dates should be in the form Day/Month/Year.
